Treasure of the Sea

My favorite Kama Sutra product is not actually a sexuality product at all.  It is Treasure of the Sea, a bath and body product, which certainly can be used together by couples in the bathtub, or will make you feel pretty sexy afterwards.

Kama Sutra’s Treasure of the Sea is a luxurious scented bath salt enriched with a blend of organic ingredients derived from dulse, kelp, sea salts and mineral oils. The bath salts come in a nice plastic tin for storage with ancient Indian-styled images of mermaids swimming through the sea. The tin contains 24.6 oz (500g) of ocean blue bath salts and a seashell scoop.

My partner and I love to share a bath together. It is a sensual time for both of us to relax and wash away the stress of the day.  Until I purchased Treasure of the Sea we used Epsom salts (magnesium sulphate) in our bath to soothe our tired muscles, which we always loved.  But, Treasure of the Sea is so much better than just sea salts alone.

You only need ½-1 scoop for a full size 6 foot bathtub which will turn your tub water into the color of a tropical sea, with foamy suds floating on top as a sensual, fresh aroma fills the bathroom. We use the salts about 3 times a week and a tub lasts us about two months, so pretty good value.  Magnesium sulphate, one of the ingredients of Treasure of the Sea, is used in flotation therapy which makes the body more buoyant, so you feel the weight of your limbs and body floating away.  It soothes the muscles leaving you wonderfully relaxed and your skin silky soft and sensual.  It is a must have Kama Sutra product and one of the only products I buy on a regular basis and hate to run out of.  Taking a bath without it, just isn’t the same.

Treasure of the Sea-like many of the Kama Sutra products-is designed to enhance sensual awareness and encourage intimacy. Together with other Kama Sutra products like the Oil of Love, Honey Dust or the Weekender Kit, Treasure of the Sea is a great start to a night of intimacy, pampering and sensual sex. Both my partner and I love this product and use it for a tropical get-away as near as our tub.  Which reminds me-bath night tonight!

Mary Jane is All Grown Up

Did I ever mention that I have a shoe fetish?  Ever since I used to play dress-up as a little girl and put on my mother’s way too big high heel shoes, I have loved shoes and boots of all kinds from my high-cut black Converse sneakers with the red laces, my pink satin ballet slippers with the rabbit fur lining, to my leather motorcycle boots, come fuck-me stiletto heals, and Wizard of Oz red sparkly Dorothy shoes.  Footwear just seems to complete what I am wearing, even if it is only my road-off army boots, what I put on my feet make a statement about who I am.  The shoes I love best, however, are doll shoes, or what are often referred to as Mary Jane’s.

I have two pairs of Mary Jane’s-a pair of flats and ones with a slight heel-but I have always wanted a pair of Black Platform Mary Jane’s.  These shoes are the perfect accessory for a schoolgirl outfit, or if you enjoy dressing up as a doll, as I do.  I just think they look pretty hot with whatever fetish outfit you’d want to wear, especially goth or alt looks.

Schuerman (Llewellyn Publications 1998) is a practical guide for those who want to explore the ancient mysteries of Sacred Sexuality.  Although it is an older book (1998) on tantra, it is not dated and the information is just as useful now as when I first got the book.  Of course, Tantra itself is an ancient practice, and Johnson and Schuerman’s book makes it accessible to modern-day readers.

Combining their knowledge and experience of Eastern Tantra and Western sex magic, Johnson and Schuerman offer easy to follow methods and techniques designed to explore the esoteric aspects of sexuality.  The book is written in a clear, precise language, including illustrations that demonstrate the various positions and exercises that make it even easier to understand.  It was created both for novice and experienced practitioners alike, with its simplicity and the wealth of information it offers the reader.  Anyone interested in exploring the sacred nature of sexuality will find this book a useful and inspiring resource.

I personally found Sex, Magic and Spirit informative, well-written, enlightening and fascinating to read.  My partner and I enjoyed experimenting with the various techniques described in the book.  We both found the experience heightened our sensitivity to each others’ needs and brought greater awareness of our own.  I highly recommend this book for couples, individuals or pansexual groups who wish to delve deeper into their own sexual mysteries and awaken the God(dess) within.

I have several Kama Sutra products including many of their massage and bath products and have always been happy with them.  The Massage Therapy Kit is a nice little introduction kit that allows you to try out all Kama Sutra’s various scented oils.  The kit comes in a little plastic zipper pouch which makes it great for storage or travel.  It contains five, two ounce plastic squeeze bottles, designed to be spill resistant and each bottle is large enough to get a few massages out of each.

Inspired by the ancient Hindu guide to lovemaking, these oils were developed to promote intimacy between couples.  Each oil has its own unique aromatherapy blend designed to compliment or enhance various moods and to promote psychological and physical well-being.

The Scents

Sweet Almond- This is the most neutral of all the scents and the most popular.  It smells like almonds, but is not overpowering so can be mixed with various essence oils to make your own scent if you wish.

Healing Blend- This oil has a spicy scent and is known for its healing properties, making it perfect for massaging tension out of tired muscles and relieving stress.  Essential oils include: lavender, cardamom, rosemary, marjoram, elemi, clary sage, black pepper, clove, nutmeg, juniper and pine.

Serenity- This oil is lightly scented with a subtle hint of citrus.  It has a calming, soothing quality that promotes relaxation.  Essential oils include: cedar, sweet marjoram, neroli, orange, tangerine and lavender.

Pleasure Garden- This oil is flowery, with a blended fragrance of lavender, jasmine and rose, all of which have sensual qualities. Essential oils include: Italian jasmine, rose, lavender and sandalwood.

Soaring Spirit- This oil has a mint scent and is refreshing and uplifting. Essential oils include: orange, lemon, peppermint, spearmint, geranium, ginger and fennel.

The oils themselves contain a combination of various natural oils including almond, grape seed, and pistacia vera seed oil, all known for their skin-softening properties.  Sweet almond oil is especially rich in vitamins and minerals that revitalize sooth and nourish dry skin and also contains fatty acids which aid sore, aching muscles. The oils have a light, silken texture that glides easily over the skin and eventually absorbs when massaged in, leaving the skin soft, supple and glowing.

It use, you need an amount about the size of a quarter which you warm up in your hands first before applying to the body.  If you have cold hands (like I do) it may be a good idea to warm the oils slightly by placing the bottle in a pot of boiled water for a minute or so, and then test the temperature on your wrist.

Apart from their mood enhancing, therapeutic qualities, these massage oils are great for sensual foreplay as you take turns with your lover rubbing the oils into each others skin.  Using a bit too much is good, which allows you both to slide over each other during sex which is a very sexy, sensual feeling and much nicer than Crisco.  These oils are not to be used as sexual lubricants however, and you should avoid getting them in the vagina.

These oils are also great to use after a bath or shower, as they will nourish your skin and the various scents put you a good mood for the rest of the day.  Makes a lovely gift for yourself, a lover or a friend.

Review: Babeland’s Massage Candle

I lit the candle as a joke, actually.

If you know me, you know how much I like the hot wax play (none as much as the extreme and awesome time I had with Lolita on my birthday back in February). I like the feeling of being captive by my wax wielder, prevented from escaping the drips and splats and raining ooze of melted wax. How it runs down my sides, into the hollow of my throat, and liquidly pours itself into the folds of my labia. The way it feels when layer upon layer of wax piles up, holding my body’s heat, keeping me still. I like the feeling of peeling the hardened wax from my body once it’s over; the way the cool air feels light and feathery on my skin, which feels like it’s just been born.

The thing about soy wax is that it melts at a lower temperature than paraffin, making the ladles of wax from Lolita’s fondue pot and paraffin candles much hotter and more likely to burn if she hadn’t known what she was doing. Soy wax can be poured/dripped/drizzled with much less concern (making the wax play, in my mind, far less fun and interesting), and can be massaged into the skin, making it nice for sensual massages, if you’re into that sort of thing.

So, when a recent package from Babeland was revealed to contain a small square box holding a Mojito Peppermint soy wax candle and a tiny box of +/- matches, the most I could muster was, “Aw, that’s so cute.” [click to continue…]
