  • Note: I really enjoy Dr. Ruthie’s reviews and also think she is absolutely adorable. I think this one is wonderful, especially as an anal review since she talks a lot about uses of anal beads as well as safety and the toy itself. There is also a written component to this review if you click on the link above.

bswish Bswish Bsoft

Last month I did a series of Luxury Sex Toy reviews as it has been a growing trend in the marketplace.  While looking for potential products to review, I came across the Bswish Bsoft rechargeable vibrator from Vibrator.com.  I have always been happy with the quality products I receive from Vibrator.com so I decided to try out the Bsoft.  I was also initially interested in this product because Bswish is one of the new sex toy companies on the market who are trying to go about doing things differently by making stylish, body-safe products targeted towards a chic, hip woman’s market.  So, plunge I did.

Sadly, however I was very unimpressed with the Bsoft when it arrived.  Although the packaging was nice and it is a rechargeable vibe (bonus) the vibe itself looked and felt very flimsy and cheap.  For a product that retails around $70, I was expecting much more “quality”.  Which brings me to a point to why I think sex toy reviews, or product reviews of any kind are so valuable.  Because I can’t hold and touch a product online, I rely heavily on what other consumers say about a product.  If I can’t read a book, I read other people’s reviews of it on Amazon before buying it.  The same goes with sex toys. I always read other sex toy reviewers’ product reviews before making a purchase of my own.

If I had of read an honest review of this product I would have known it was made of a very lightweight plastic (which makes me wonder why it is called a Bsoft?), like a child’s cheap “flying saucer” toy that I could easily crush or break.  I would have known that the design of the toy, while fitting well with the vulva, doesn’t stimulate the clitoris well at all and is almost impossible to place near the clit.  I would have also read that the vibrations are meh (subtle) and that it lacked the power that any good clitoral vibrator should have.  Also, it is impossible to not hit the controls while you are trying to use and position it, which turns it off constantly. So, in a nutshell, I would have learned it was useless for it designed purpose.  Maybe some kid would get a charge out of it pretending to fly it around the galaxy before they broke it, but for a woman wanting to masturbate this toy is a dud.

Moral of the story?  I know many sex toy stores don’t have the time to review each and every product they sell.  That is why I think it is valuable for them to have people to review their products, as well as for the consumers who are looking to buy these products.  There must be about a bazillion sex toys on the market, so how do you know what works or which one(s) to choose?

This was one of the reasons I got into reviewing sex toys in the first place.  I was often frustrated with my purchases of junky sex toys, toys that broke, didn’t perform as advertised, or those made out of crappy materials.  Soon after I started reviewing and while working in a brick and mortar sex toy shop, I was introduced to smelly jellies and the dangers of phthalates and other nasty chemicals used in sex toy manufacturing.  And, while some people like to put down what sex toy reviewers do and think they are only in it for free toys, I have always been passionate about doing honest reviews that I think help and educate consumers.  I don’t just review sex toys because it is a fad, I do it because I work in the adult industry and it is important to me to improve the quality of products sex shops sell and manufacturers make.  But, mainly I do it for myself and for consumers, because I want everyone to have happy orgasms, and be able to choose the best sex toys of quality that are suited to them.

So, if you ever have any questions about a certain product or sex toys in general, don’t be afraid to ask me.  I have reviewed over 500 products and if I haven’t reviewed that exact product, I can most likely still tell you quite a bit about it, or recommend another product you would like based on what you are looking for.

Okay, that’s my soapbox for today!

While I didn’t like the Bswish Bsoft, please do check out Vibrator.com as they carry many wonderful quality sex toys and clitoral stimulators for happy orgasms.

  • Pink by EffinSara
  • Pink Lube is a silicone-based lube and contains only five ingredients: Dimethicone, Vitamin E, Aloe Vera, Dimethiconol, and Cyclomethicone. Vitamin E and aloe vera are generally soothing and nurturing for skin, and the other three are silicone polymers, which have a number of properties that make them ideal lubricants. Their molecules are too big to pass between the top layer of cells in your skin, much less penetrate cell membranes, so once you put them on they won’t be going anywhere. No absorption or anything. This makes silicone-based lubes longer lasting than their water-based counterparts

Note: I get a special tingle when people explain ingredients of lube, I’m not sure why. Maybe because it doesn’t always happen, or maybe because science gives me a happy. Either way, I like it. Also, while I do love snark, there is something to be said for negative reviews which showcase the fact that personal preference ties in to the dislike of a product rather than negativity toward the product itself. On both cases, this review is a winner.

  • Eros and Isis Leo by Domina Doll
  • Their line of sensual adult toys are made from 100% silicone and are exquisite objects d’art. With names like Lancelot, Cleo and Leo the Lion, their inspiration lies in mythical eroticism and fervent fantasies. Each erotic object is disguised as a fine art collectable and resemble antiqued silver, jade or gold chess pieces or figurines.

Note: Every once in a while a toy comes along that simply takes my breath away, and I just can’t resist making it EP for the week, and this was one of those. There are tons of other amazing reviews this week, though too, it was difficult to choose!

  • I was really excited when this toy arrived. I really wanted to like it. Really badly. So badly that when I initially hated it, I just assumed that I was doing something wrong because Tantus and its Stroker were obviously above suspicion. On a mission to prove me and my stupid nerve endings wrong, I ask the internet about the Tantus Stroker.

Note: What makes this review is actually the accompanying visual aids, specifically the video of the awkward sound the stroker makes and the picture at the bottom of the review which I absolutely love. You must go see it!

iconicpocket Iconic Pocket by Jimmyjane

For the past three weeks I’ve been on the search for the perfect rocket and have been reviewing Pocket Rocket-style vibrators.  No series of reviews on pocket pockets would be complete without including the Iconic Pocket by Jimmyjane which I have had the pleasure to test out.

First a bit of history about the Pocket Rockets and how the Iconic Pocket came to be.

“Pocket Vibrators were first produced in Japan over 25 years ago.  Their compact all-in-one design made them the most portable vibrators available at the time…  While Pocket Vibrators were designed to be compact, they were also engineered to be powerful.  The four hemispheres on the tip of the vibrator help intensify sensation by varying the contact pressure as they are moved across the body.”—From the Iconic Pocket package by Jimmyjane

Jimmyjane realized that the Pocket Rocket had become a sex toy icon, and like “the rabbit” and “vibrating ring” were “ubiquitous mainstays of popular culture”.  So they teamed up with Japanese company Vibratex, creators of the original Pocket Rocket and Rabbit Habit, to offer the curated Usual Suspects Iconic Vibrator Collection.  The Iconic Pocket is a part of that line.

So, is the Iconic Rocket just a knock-off of the original, or something more?  Well, it looks much like the original, but as with everything Jimmyjane does, they have improved upon that design and made it better than ever.

The Iconic Pocket is pure white and looks like it belongs in a minimalist art gallery sitting all by itself on a pristine white pillar.  Like their other sexy innovations, the Iconic meets their “stringent material quality and safety standards, and is backed by our one-year limited warranty – the first of its kind for these types of vibrators.”  It is waterproof, uses one AA battery and neatly packaged in a environmentally sustainable little cardboard box that is also perfect for storage.

Unlike the original Pocket Rocket, this vibe kicks ass.  Although it is not as quiet as Jimmyjane’s Form 6 [my review] it is an uber powerful little vibe. I don’t know how they did it, but the Iconic Pocket has more power than any of the other 1 speed rockets I have tested that take 1 AA battery.  It actually has the same power as the 3 speed Pocket Rocket Plus and Pocket Booster [my review] on their highest settings, each of which takes 2 AA batteries or more.  All this power in a minimalist compact package makes the Iconic Pocket one of the best pocket rocket-style vibrators on the market.  Am I surprised?  Not really.  Knowing the quality and attention to detail that goes into Jimmyjane’s designs, it was easy to guess that they would settle for nothing less than perfection.

But will it get you off?  You bet-cha!  Unless you have a clit of steel, this rocket will shoot you to the stars.

You can purchase the Iconic Pocket along with all the other Usual Suspects at WWW.JIMMYJANE.COM.

The Cone

by Domina Doll on 07/29/2009

in sex toys,sextoys

thecone The Cone

I love to try out new and innovative products and especially those that really break the mold.  Well, the Cone, is certainly such a device.  And, I say device because calling it a sex toy (even though that is its purpose) seems strange.  Needless to say, I have been coveting the Cone since it appeared on the European market.

Unfortunately, unique designs like these (such as the We-Vibe [my review]) take a lot of trial and error, and are usually more of a novel idea than a product that is purely practical.  Now, I don’t want to dissuade you from wanting to try the Cone as it does have many distinctive qualities and thrills that many people will find exciting, orgasmic and practical.

The Cone is a spherical pyramid shape and is about the size and weight of honeydew melon.  It has a huge motor inside that powers 16 speeds / functions with multiple vibration areas that move around it, but center at the peak.  Some of the vibrations feel deep at the core, while others climax at the apex.  There are gentle undulations, rolling “thunder” vibrations, escalating Va-va-vroooms and even a bass drum roll setting that feels like someone is playing percussion on your womb.  Setting 16 is called the Orgasm Button and it osculates between various other settings at maximum power.  The speeds /setting are controlled easily with an on | off button (also the Orgasm Button) and a button to cycle through the settings.

So far so good.

But, how the hell do you use this device as a “sex toy”?  There are several ways you “could” use it and several ways I tried it.  It comes with a little pamphlet with illustrations to give you some idea, but no actual directions, so you are left up to your own creativity.

thecone2 The Cone

Positions for the Cone

  • Sit on it on a couch.  Sitting directly on the tip is uncomfortable and can be painful.  But wrapping your labia and thighs around it so it fits snug with the clitoris works well.  The most comfortable position for me.
  • Squat on it.  Unless you want a work-out, this is an exhausting position that will leave your thighs quivering before long.
  • Lay belly down with the Cone between your thighs.  No bad, but I find I can’t breathe on my stomach well, so couldn’t get into it.
  • Stick it to the wall with the suction bottom and press yourself backside against it.  Comfortable if you like standing while you masturbate.  I don’t.
  • Stick to the wall lower and go at it doggie style.  Hard to maneuver this way to get it to reach where you want it to be.
  • Lay back and put the point between your thighs.  Comfortable, but doesn’t stimulate well enough as it can’t reach my spots.
  • Curl up on your side and rest it between the thighs.  Also comfortable, but somewhat fetal.  I like to “open up” when I masturbate.
  • On your back, hand-held like a normal vibe.  Hard on the wrists as it is so heavy and difficult to keep in position.

The Cone can and will stimulate the vulva, clitoris and anus as well as the G-spot indirectly.  Clitorally, it doesn’t pinpoint the sensations enough to stimulate that area well.  Vaginally, it doesn’t penetrate deep enough to stimulate there.  It is good for warming up the vulva and anus area before or during sex with a partner.

The Cone has a lot of power, so should get you off.  However, I found the power was too spread out, rather than precise, to really get me worked up.  After a certain point, I knew it wasn’t going anywhere no matter what setting I tried, Orgasm Button and all.

One thing I do think this would be good for is persons with physical limitations or disabilities, as it is hands-free.  I remember reading about a disabled teenager whose caregiver bought him a vibrator so he could masturbate.  Being hands-free the Cone would most likely do this well, especially since you can sit (almost) on it.  Also, it is designed for men as well as women, so mild anal stimulation (or scrotum) works too.  I think it is also more useful as a stimulation toy for partner sex.

The Cone is an interesting if not orgasmic device and if you like to try new strange things, then check it out at VibeReview.  I’m sure there are many more ways to try to use this thing and what feels orgasmic (or not) to me will be different for you.

  • Lube & Lascivious Conduct: A quest for a lubricant that doesn’t suck by Dollfacekilla
  • No, a good lube is totally clear, and like a good joke, completely tasteless. I’m in the market for the good stuff so I’ve asked the friendly folks at TabuToys.com to provide me with a list of their top 10 selling sex lubricants for me to rate and compare. This will be an epic task requiring a cast-iron stomach and a sturdy wrist. But now it looks like I’m stalling and as Jane Gumb says, “It put’s the lotion on the skin or it get’s the hose.”

Editor’s Note: While this was posted out of the date range of this Pleasurists I do make exceptions for exceptional reviews. I read this review a few weeks ago and didn’t know who was behind it but was ultimately impressed. I love the premise of the site as well as the reviews and product mentions, I love reviews of bad products that are snarky and witty and this one definitely fits that bill.

Editor’s Note: It should be no secret that I love Epiphora’s reviews, and this is a particularly wonderful one. Often reviews of bad toys are better than raving reviews of wonderful toys that we reviewers can’t get enough of and this is one such review.
