Three of Cleis Press’ top authors of smart smut are teaming up with New York’s Pleasure Salon to hold a reading and Q&A in the upstairs space at Happy Ending. Molly Weatherfield, Laura Antoniou, and DL King will read from their steaming novels, and discuss the keys to writing smart and sexy stories. There will be a giveaway of all of the authors’ latest titles, so at least seven people will be “getting lucky.”

Downstairs – Mix and Mingle

The Pleasure Salon has been created to build community, allowing sex-positive activists to cross-pollinate. Our gatherings bring together members of the BDSM, swinger, alternative gender, LGBTQ, sex-activist, sex educator, nudist, sex-magic, polyamory, Pagan, radical faerie, tantra, sex-blogger, porn, pervert and sex-worker communities, and others whose passion is sex. (Let us know if we missed any one of you!) Through building networks in the sex-positive community, the Pleasure Salon hopes to help create a sex-positive world. It is a place for the open exchange of ideas and sensual expression.

ErosBlog: How To Back Up Your Adult Tumblr Blog

As promised in my last post, this is the post in which I tell you how to make a full and complete backup of your porn Tumblr blog (or, really, any Tumblr). My goal for you is a set of files on your own hard drive that contains all the text and all the links and all the pictures (even the full-sized high-res click through ones) that you’ve got on your current Tumblr blog, all linked together in a way that you can open the site in your browser and browse through it just like you would online. This can be done. It’s not even very hard. And once you’ve got it done, you’ll have all the raw material you would need re-create your tumblr blog on some other hosting, if anything should happen to Tumblr or to your porn blog on Tumblr.

But why should you worry about that? Why might you need a Tumblr backup?

Help Kate Bornstein Stay Alive

That’s the title of the GoFundMe campaign that was started by Kate’s friend Laura Vogel:

Kate Bornstein has cancer. The good news, direct from the team of skilled doctors on her case, is that the cancer is curable. However, the treatment plan that gives Kate the best chance of beating cancer is incredibly expensive. Kate has spent the past thirty years helping the rest of us Stay Alive—now it’s our turn to give back. Let’s HELP KATE BORNSTEIN BEAT CANCER AND STAY ALIVE!

This August, Kate was diagnosed with lung cancer. She underwent surgery, after which extensive testing led her doctors to believe that the cancer was gone. However, in February, Kate’s doctors discovered that this was not, in fact, the case. The cancer was back. Since receiving this news, Kate has seen numerous talented physicians and other medical professionals. The consensus is that Kate’s cancer IS CURABLE. However, Kate’s treatment plan is more complicated than most because she has suffered from another kind of cancer–CLL, or Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia–for over fifteen years. Kate will undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatment. She will eat according to strict nutritional diet plan and she will take a large number of supplements that will strengthen her body’s ability to handle the chemo and radiation.

Kate has been an inspiration for so many of us. Let’s give something back to her. Please go here to donate something if you can. And please help get the word out. Thank you.
