Why you need RSS Feeds

I get all my information from a computer screen, as opposed to treeware. And I sift through a lot of sites to bring you the bloggy goodness of Viviane’s Sex Carnival using RSS feeds, which I read in Bloglines, a web based RSS reader. RSS is widely used by the weblog community to share the latest entries’ headlines or their full text, and even attached multimedia files. So instead of going from site to site, I just fire up Bloglines and it’s all there (and it’s updated hourly).

Bloggers, turn on your RSS feed and create a link in your template to make it easier for your viewers to read it and know when you’ve updated. Viewers, look for the orange RSS box or ‘site feed’ links and right click and copy the address for pasting into your newsreader.

I got Mimi in NY to turn her site feed on.

And you can also look at Hot Feeds: The Best of Syndicated Sex, where Jefferson, Madeline and me just got our feeds listed in the sexblogs category.

Prospero, good point. I use Firefox at home, can’t install it at work, yet.
