Madison Young’s “Tail of a Bondage Model: Real Life Memoirs of a Rope Slut” was Madison’s second release as a director and like “Bondage Boob Tube”, her first release which won the 2008 Good For Her Feminist Porn Award for Hottest Kink Film, shows her budding potential as an artist and filmmaker. “Tail of a Bondage Model”-in the vein of her latest release “Perversions of Lesbian Lust“-is an autobiographical narrative that follows Madison’s journey into fetish as a professional bondage model.

The film is structured as a narrative, on one hand relating Madison’s story of love lost and the difficulty of maintaining a romantic relationship as a “sex” worker. On the other hand it is conceptional in nature as Madison uses symbolism and metaphor to illustrate her personal conflicts through surreal inner landscapes that she envisions throughout the film with voice over poetic dialogue from her written memoirs.

One of these is a recurring motif that opens the film. Madison is bound and suspended Shibari-style against a minimalist white backdrop. Beside her hangs, also a bound, a vintage typewriter which she struggles to touch, fondle and make love to, but which she can never quite reach. Madison explains the metaphor to sexologist Carol Queen and her partner Robert Lawrence in the director’s commentary, saying it is representative of her struggle in her relationship. As a writer who creates through words, the typewriter can also be viewed as a struggle for her own artistic freedom and independence: to break away and become what she is destined to be, one of the top bondage models in the industry.

The film features several scenes, some of them real footage from her bondage shoots, others reenactments of brief moments in her life with lover Gauge (Jiz Lee) in between the airports, motels and bondage shoots which she constantly pursues while on the road.

The first scene with Jiz Lee (Crash Pad Series) portrays Madison and Gauge in love, having sex in the kitchen. It features hot lesbian sex as well as hot wax play, ending with a voyeuristic view of Madison against the window looking in from the outside as she comes. The second scene with Jiz Lee is a fantasy scenario, “What if…” in which Madison imagines what it would be like if her lover punished her, a secret desire she would like to fulfill, and perhaps how it may have changed or saved the relationship. This scene is amazing as Gauge suspends jugs of gathered “tears” (from her years of sorrow living with Madison) from Madison’s clothes-pinned labia, then clothes-pins love notes over Madison’s chest. This was Jiz Lee’s first plunge in to sadomasochism and she performs brilliantly. Her dialogue is very natural as well, especially when she rips the clothes-pins off Madison’s chest after asking if Madison is going to stay home with her as promised and says “You’re damn right!”

Two other scenes are taken from Madison’s real life bondage sessions. The first is with Claire Adams, an expert rigger and sadomasochist who knows just how to push Madison’s buttons. The scene features some beautiful suspension bondage including snap-shots from the photographer that captures their intensity at dominance and submission. The other scene is with Madison’s real life partner, James Mogul, and also features expert Shibari suspension as Madison’s pussy is tortured by her Hitachi.

The final fantasy medical scene features sweet and sexy Lorelei Lee as a sadistic nurse who attempts to “cure” Madison of her “illness” and features forceps, clamped labia, and an internal examination in which Madison gives birth to hemp rope. Here, the rope is used as another metaphor, as Madison leaves her idealistic life with her lover to pursue her career and her new love affair as a rope slut.

This film is an artistic snapshot into a period of Madison’s life told through her eyes and will appeal to bondage enthusiasts who love Shibari, sadomasochists and fans of Madison Young.
