It’s Wednesday, and I am almost unpacked. I still have bad camp crash. You’d be too, if you’d organized a cabin, spent 15 hours a day in camp, talking, attending workshops, playing, etc. It was great to see old friends from last year’s camp, LJ friends, NY friends, and make new friends.

This year I went on Thursday, so I could travel with Lolita. It’s great to have the extra day to ease into it. I highly recommend it. It meant a lot to meet first timers who told me how helpful it was to read the DO roundups and Jefferson’s blog from last year’s camp, so they would know what they might expect at camp. I’m only recently a newbie, so I know how much that can help. Hunter (who traveled from Hawaii) said reading the blogs helped him decide to come. I just love that.

It was my first time putting a cabin together. And it was like doing the seating at a wedding. Maybe worse. But once we were all there, it just came together. There was much drinking, fuckery, cuddling together for warmth(at night, it got really cold). I really enjoyed watching everyone find their element. Before we’d even left camp, we were already figuring out how to do this next year.

DO is about creating a really safe space (I hear SwitchMe’s emphasis when I write this). People who read our posts think this is all about being slutty, and having boatloads of sex. I have to emphatically disagree. This experience is what you make of it. I know lots of people (myself included) who have little or no sex at these events. It is more about is bringing together all these different communities who might not otherwise talk or play together. I’ve been corresponding with the DC Reverend, who said, “I certainly went in with a set of expectations about what would intrigue me, challenge me, push me and left with my head in an entirely different place!” It starts at camp, but you really end up expanding your social and intimate communities, in ways you hadn’t imagined.

This camp was for me about energy. Creating, channeling and releasing it. I met up again with the tall, super cute, silver-haired Rascal, who we’d met when he asked thoughtful questions at Jefferson’s and Marcus’ bisexuality panel at Spring Fire. We ended up doing several of the Tantra workshops together…practicing our energy exchanges. ;-D

Highlights I want to remember (I totally stole this from Avah):

• Traveling with Lolita.
• SwitchMe, and his hostess gift of a fine Bordeaux.
• Walking into the dungeon on Thursday, and seeing Marcus act as horse for a scene.
• A tea party, served and eaten off a lovely camper.
• The cabin welcome party, which turned into an orgy.
• The very tall and very beautiful Hunter, being laced into Molly’s corset, looking something like this.
• Hunter (still in corset), with Molly lying flat on top of him. Marcus and Rascal binding them together in plastic wrap. Still fucking.
• Jefferson demonstrating what he’d learned in the punching workshop on Match, and getting headbutted. While I Twittered it.
• Drive-by hugging.
• Barbara Carrellas‘ erotic wakening massage workshop for pussies. Watching Molly’s 10 minute, full-body orgasm, with Rascal vibrating in time next to me.
• Doing yab yum with Rascal in Dossie Easton’s Radical Ecstasy workshop. With clothespins.
• Waking up each morning, making coffee, and going out on the porch.
• Supporting Wendy in the energy pull.
• Playing agogo bells as part of the energy pull; the musical dialogue between all the percussionists.
• Talking to Anita Wagner about her blog, while the Jefferson MC’ed the Blowjob Throwdown.
• Being suspended 6 feet in the air by Steve B, and asking to be swung back and forth
• Getting suspended by Lolita during Jefferson’s G spot class – 2 birds with one stone!
• Spotting Lolita and Jefferson, barefoot in his daisy dukes, and catcalling from the porch.
• Driving the camp taxi, and meeting campers.
• Men in kilts.
• Watching some incredibly difficult scenes in the dungeon. You know who you are.
• Uncorking some of the Ravenswood Zin Hunter brought to camp, and bringing it to dinner.
• Winning the “Best New Cabin” award.
• Members of the cabin won 4 in total – “Best New Cabin”, “Best New Harbinger of Bisexuality”, Marcus tied for “Most Likely to Get Laid.” I can’t remember the 4th one…
• Trying to have a sleepover with Rascal the last night, while in the middle of the cabin, a very hot scene was taking place.
• Saying hellos, and saying good-byes.

My thanks to the producers: Tristan, Colten, Greg & Karri; the stellar instructors; the camp staff; and especially the other campers, who are the soul of Dark Odyssey. Special thanks to Colten, who educated me on cabin logistics. Since I’ve been home, we’ve been burning up the wires talking about what happened, and thinking about Spring Fire, and next years camp.

Back from Dark Odyssey, which was mind blowing. Many old friends, and some wonderful new ones (that means you, my white-haired tantrika). I don’t know of any space safes quite like this one. I twittered some of it. Not a good idea to Twitter when you’re intoxicated or really cold.

So much debauchery and fuckery, I don’t think we can blog it all. (And we need to ask permission of those involved, and make up pseudonyms for scene names).

But now, I must rest, because the rest of my Fall is about to get insanely busy.

Already wondering if I should go to Dark Odyssey’s Winter Fire.

After today, there’s no blogging, probably until next Monday – Jefferson, Lolita and I are off to Dark Odyssey summer camp. I so need this vacation. I’ve got a few pictures to post while I’m away.

There’s workshops. Lolita, Marcus and Jefferson are teaching and recruiting demo bottoms for hands-on practice. Jefferson’s organized a blowjob throwdown – NJ (Avah) vs. LI (Wendy).

I organized a cabin (the Perverts’ Saloon – how unoriginal ) which has bloggers, friends and a lot of bi boys. We’ve been organizing all the stuff we’re bringing to make it more comfortable – Wendy and Selina are decorating with Christmas lights, I’ve got a french press, bourbon, a new tambourim drum, Jefferson’s got an air mattress, Marcus is bringing water and cigars, Avah’s bringing a pool float. Everyone’s packing their toys and rope. Hm…a cabin full of bi guys and girls with strap-ons. Please remind me to go to the workshops, OK?

I have a few playdates. Yes, blog mommy is getting suspended. Several times. (I got a 2-for-1 special on arnica cream). And I promised to help Anita Wagner configure an RSS feed.

There will be wireless, so we’ll try to check email. I have Twitter set up on my phone and might do some updates, but don’t hold your breath – one has to go to the top of the hill at camp to get decent reception. (Yes, Lolita, I am a nut.)

Yep, yep, yep, we’re registered. Wouldn’t miss it. Now. to assemble that packing list (electric blanket, air mattress, rope, toys, etc.).

Oh, I’m so zonked. Lots of talking, playing (mostly talking) and bourbon, little sleep. It’ll be days before I recover from the past two weeks of travel to a play party and Spring Fire.

I spent most of my time preparing for my ‘How to be a Sex Blogger’ workshop and the sex bloggers panel. The blogger workshop was well received by those who attended. Someone (maybe Tatsumi?) said the attendance was very good, considering that most folks missed the afternoon workshops, cause they were sleeping off their Friday night spent in the Dungeon and Sex-o-Rama. I did 70 slides and a 36 page handout. I’m going to try and edit it together and put it up soon, perhaps in a PDF format. Thanks to Seraphin and Anton who got the projector working on Saturday. Those things are damm finicky!

Jefferson and Marcus’ presentations went well, especially the bisexuality discussion. I was the ringer, asking ‘so, when’s the bi orgy event?’ Because I was attending their workshops, I didn’t attend many others. I did attend Anita Wagner’s on resolving jealously in a poly relationship. Also Bridgett “Lee” Harrington’s ‘Rope Bondage for Lovemaking.’ I’m going to try and catch her ‘Speed Bondage‘ at TES this Saturday.

I hadn’t expected to enjoy it, but Selina’s Erotic Easter Egg hunt was a hoot.

Jefferson says I’m a “butch top” because I flogged a pain slut I know from summer camp. Is that bad?

Phillip brought me to a collaring ceremony. I had never seen one, and was moved by the solemnity of it and the gravity of the commitment the parties made to each other.

Many thanks to Steve B. who did my first rope suspension. It was really cool, except for the male onlooker who kept talking to us, and called me ‘girl.’ Bad scene etiquette, dude. I have some lovely ropemarks on my chest that I had to warn my facialist about today. And rope marks on my wrists. Eep. And Barbara Nitke has the photographs to prove it. When are we setting up your blog, dear?

It was great to see old friends from summer camp and meet new ones. I received the surprise of my life on Friday. I walked into Helen Boyd’s workshop on monogamy. A woman in the back row stands up and we look at each other. Both our jaws drop – I’m looking at my old friend ‘Rachel.’ Rachel and I have been friends since we worked together in the same office over 20 years ago. We don’t want to disrupt the workshop, so we go out into the hallway. We fall into each other’s arms, hug and laugh hysterically.

Holding an event of this kind made me really appreciate Dark Odyssey Summer Camp. When we checked out today, I said to Jefferson, ‘Where have all the perverts gone?’ The next one is scheduled for Sept. 12-17. I’m already thinking about what I could present – maybe “60 Websites in 60 minutes?”

Dark Odyssey proudly welcomes singer/songwriter Bridget Everett to our Saturday Night Dinner Banquet. Bridget will be entertaining us with her sultry voice, unique songs, and dirty mouth. She¹s coming to D.C. fresh from her critically-acclaimed show in New York, “At Least It’s Pink,” a first-person recounting of Bridget’s misadventures as the local slut in her hometown of Manhattan, Kansas. In this cabaret-style mix of dirty tales, witty original lyrics, and 70s and 80s pop, Bridget recalls colorful childhood experiences with almost embarrassing candor. Bridget’s co-writer and co-star Kenny Mellman is well known as Herb to Justin Bond’s Kiki of *The Kiki and Herb Show* and the show is directed by Michael Patrick King (Executive Producer of *Sex and The City*). Michael Musto calls Bridget “A large talent. Wynonna Judd meets Melissa Etheridge via the local bar floozy, on a rocket ship out of Twin Peaks.” Don’t miss this incredible performer!
