zeus The Zeus Electrogasm

And, now for something completely different!  I have been inspired by Red from the Red Sneaker Diaries to try out some electro-stimulation type sex toys.  She has been doing a series of reviews on erotic E-Stim toys and has become what I consider the Queen of E-stim toys.  Previously, I’ve been a bit wary of trying electrostimulation.  Okay, I’m a chicken actually.  Although I consider myself somewhat of a masochist in that I’m heavily tattooed, love piercings and play piercings as well as heavy breast torture (okay now you know my perverted pleasures), there are some types of sensations that I despise.

A couple of years ago I got a nasty shock from a Violet (violent) Wand.  It was my own fault because of the way I was holding it and I touched a part that I wasn’t supposed to and a jolt of electricity shot right up my arm.  I thought I was going to go into cardiac arrest.  Seriously though, no damage was done and I was more embarrassed than anything.  So, I guess I’ve been shying away from electricity ever since.

But, curiosity killed the cat, so here I am about to blast myself into orgasm or intense shock.  I just started reviewing products for the amazing folks at Extreme Restraints and they asked what I would like to try.  I told them I had never tried electrostimulation, so they recommended the Zeus Electrogasm, which is a beginner E-stim toy.  And, that’s just perfect because I am in no rush to take away Red’s E-stim crown!

zeus2 The Zeus Electrogasm

So, what exactly is this strange little toy?  Well, as you can see it is shaped like a butterfly with two wings that are self-adhesive pads that have the electrodes on the back and the function box on the front that powers the unit.  Fairly simple, no wires or plug-ins, just put in the battery, attach the box to the butterfly and you are ready to play.  The toy is entirely self-contained.  It comes with two flat batteries and easy to read instructions.  Like most electrostimulation toys, this is not supposed to be used above the waist as a shock to the heart could result in cardiac arrest.

So, where did I put it first?  On my breast.  Actually, that’s not true.  First I tried it on my thigh and watched my muscles leap and contract from the jolts, and then I put it on my breast, or more accurately on my nipple (but my right one, I’m no fool!).

The power box has three buttons: “on”, “off” and “function mode”.  Once you have the butterfly stuck in place (for this demo I put the electrodes on either side of my nipple) you press the “on” button once to power it up.  Nothing happens at this point except the light comes on to let you know it is ready.  You can then begin cycling through the different functions with the “function mode” or keep pressing the “on” button to up the intensity.  The directions say it has 5 modes: A: Tapping, B: Rhythmic Kneading, C: Deep Kneading, D: Pressing and E: Continuous Press.  Combined with the 4 intensity levels, this gives you 9 different variations.

So what does it feel like?  Well the A mode feels like a tingling tapping on the lowest intensity and like sharp needles on the highest intensity.  B mode is a short burst of buzzing that becomes fairly intense and more needling on the high intensity.  C mode is a long undulating wave going from light to sharp.  D mode goes through the various settings, and E mode is a long continuous burst, followed by the other modes.  On the lowest intensity it feels like a tickling fluttery feeling, while on the high modes it is a fairly intense needling sensation that sends little shocking jolts through the area (in this case my nipple).  I found the lower levels pleasurable, but couldn’t stand the higher intensities for very long.  I did enjoy cycling through the intensity levels and giving myself a good jolt every once in a while though.  It is really rather freaky playing with this cool little toy, especially if you haven’t experienced it before.  It feels unlike anything I have experienced thus far, and I can see why it could become addictive, or more interesting than the normal sex toy vibration.

The thing I liked best about it is that you won’t experience a painful, shocking jolt, like I did with the Violet Wand.  It is very safe and if you follow the instructions, not painful unless you want it to be.  Next week, I may get the courage up to try it on my clitoris or labia, which is where this toy is recommended for use (or the anus), or in case of a guy, wrapped around the penis.  Because you can’t see the controls when it is down there, I wanted to wait until my partner returns from his business trip to help me out with it.  According to Red, E-stim can be a highly erotic, orgasmic experience, so I am anxious to try this out on my other pink parts.  If you are looking for a different type of erotic stimulation I highly recommend trying this out, especially if you are a beginner.  It is very reasonably priced and may lead you on to a whole sensual journey of electrostimulation.

Thank you to Extreme Restraints for “turning me on” to electro-stimulation play for the first time.  It was an exciting, scary, strange and electrifying experience!  And, once over the initial fear of this toy and you develop a familiarity with the sensation, you may want to go on to bigger and better zaps of pleasure/pain.  Stay tuned to the Sex Carnival each week as I review some unusual bdsm toys from Extreme Restraints as well as my other sex toy reviews.

mistressmanual The Mistress Manual

“The Mistress Manual: A Good Girl’s Guide to Female Dominance” is an instruction handbook by Mistress Lorelei, published by Greenery Press. Its focus is on heterosexual female dominance, but much of the information can be adapted to other gender play scenarios. Written by Lorelei, an experienced lifestyle Dominatrix and feminist, it provides information to women “at all levels of the art”.

In Part One: Becoming a Mistress, Lorelei talks about how expressing one’s female dominance is liberating within the constraints of patriarchal culture, by transforming the power exchange and defying the prescribed gender roles. She also encourages women (and men) to embrace their “shadow selves”, the sides that are denied them in everyday life, but ones they can experience through fantasy. According to the author, the submissive is able to experience an emotional catharsis, by letting go and enjoying a sense of freedom.

Part Two: The Mistress in Action discusses practical ways to assert one’s dominance, the art of discipline and the skills one needs to become a successful Domme. Some of the tools the author examines includes using suspense (mystery and anticipation) and variation to create a compelling scene fantasy, creating a set, using costumes and props, choreographing a scene, punishment as a form of pleasure and release, as well as rewards and aftercare. She also provides plenty of information on various techniques including spanking and flagellation, bondage, humiliation and forms of control.

In Part Three: The Five Archetypal Fantasies, Lorelei introduces the main role playing models: Nursemaid, Governess, Queen, Amazon and Goddess and what part these play in fulfilling fantasies. The following chapters then go on to explain these roles in depth with examples and suggestions. The book also includes an afterword with “Ten Rules for a Successful Mistress” which is a visual summary of the lessons learned within.

The Mistress Manual has a wealth of information, much more than can be covered in a short review. It is well written, with an emphasis on the psychological as well as the physical aspects of D/s. It is an excellent read that has plenty to offer for both novices and seasoned pros.

. . . The next day, I had some very weighty thoughts, but I was lightened by them. One of the things that struck me was that, apparently, it’s completely possible to have a give and take of control, just because he enjoyed taking, and I enjoyed giving. It was a simple symbiotic fulfillment experience with no messy emotions and promises wanted or offered. I saw for a brief moment that someone else could show me things about myself I had never seen. I learned that I can give up control and not be devoured or seek to destroy myself in the process. I discovered I can cum exactly as and exactly when instructed. I confirmed that a measure of structure and authority makes me more productive and joyful. And apparently, playing with my pussy can make me more creative and focused. I am very grateful to have shared this experience with Mr. Sevven, and most of all, for making me put the damn pitchfork away

NCSF has been contacted by over a dozen concerned members of the BDSM community in New York about the arrests of dozens of professional Dominatrices in Manhattan that started in early 2008. The pro-Domme community in New York City, which has been a vibrant part of the BDSM community for decades, has been ravaged by these prosecutions for prostitution and for promoting prostitution, resulting in the closure of a number of pro-Domme houses.

NCSF contacted the Manhattan DA’s office in order to clarify what sort of “for-pay” BDSM activities are considered legal in New York State. On February 5th, Susan Wright, along with outside counsel, met with ADA Leroy Frazer and Lisa Friel, head of the Sex Crimes Unit, to get their legal opinion.

Pro-Dommes have traditionally considered their BDSM-for-pay to be legal. One case decided by a local misdemeanor court, People v. Georgia A., 163 Misc.2d 634 (Crim. Ct. Kings Co. 1994), supports this position, holding that “sado-masochistic acts such as domination, foot licking, spanking and submission” are not “sexual conduct” prohibited by the prostitution statute. However, that decision is not binding even on other misdemeanor courts, and Ms. Friel described it as “not worth the paper it was written on.” Also, as stated in Georgia A.:

“The term sexual conduct is not defined in the statute but has since been described in various cases. That conduct includes acts of masturbation, homosexuality, sexual intercourse, or physical contact of the person’s clothed or unclothed genitals, buttocks or a woman’s breast. ( People v Block, 71 Misc 2d 714 [1972].)”

According to ADA Frazer, their office does not make prosecution of pro-Dommes a priority. However, according to their interpretation of the law, any form of “payment in exchange for touching in an intimate place either over clothing or nude” would constitute prostitution. This includes any touching of the genitals, anus, and breasts.

Under Georgia A, certain BDSM activities such as humiliation, role-play, foot worship, D/s, service activities, and bondage were found to be exempt from the prostitution statute, as long as no other sexual activities were involved.  Ms. Friel opined Georgia A is based on a misunderstanding of the scope of the prostitution statute and that “sexual conduct” should be defined as what is arousing to the participants, not what is arousing to the outside “vanilla” observer.

Therefore, activities such as flogging, CBT or genitorture, spanking, body worship and nipple torture, in addition to more overtly sexual activities, would fall within the Manhattan DA’s understanding of prostitution when they are done for pay and either party is aroused by them.

NCSF opposes the prosecution of pro-dominants under prostitution laws. Consenting adults engaging in safe, sane, consensual SM, fetishes, and cross-dressing services do not pose legitimate health or safety issues for local communities. What these adults agree to do in private is no one else’s business.

NCSF is currently exploring ways to cooperate with other sex-positive activist groups in New York City to protest these arrests, as well as the alleged entrapment and arrests of gay men for prostitution. If you have been arrested for prostitution for doing BDSM activities, or if you would like more information, please contact: susanw@ncsfreedom.org

Long before the acronym BDSM was in use, long before people recognized that many of their fantasies and fascinations qualified them for a clinical diagnosis as a sadomasochist, pulp fiction offered all the erotic thrills of today’s BDSM fiction.

One could factually argue that the biggest difference between pulp readers of yore and BDSMers of today is that we abide by “safe, sane and consensual” while such concepts were unknown in pulp fiction, which often included violent, terminal (fatal) fantasies.

But, to my mind, the most fundamental difference between the BDSMers of the middle decades of the 20th century (from the ’30s to the ’80s, primarily) and contemporary BDSMers is that we have a word (acronym, actually) to describe ourselves, a word that doesn’t carry the connotation of evil or wrong.

nippleclamps1 Nipple Clamps 101

Breasts and nipples are my favorite parts of the female anatomy because they are so fun to play.  It is very hot playfully torturing a pair of breasts and watching them respond with pleasure, as your play partner moans and squeals with abandon.

Nipple clamps are a great way to add breast play into your play routine, and they work well on men and women, provided your partner enjoys nipple stimulation.  Most women enjoy having their breasts played with and many men have sensitive nipples as well.

There are several types of nipple clamps, from the very simple clothespins to elaborately styled Japanese Clover Clamps, as well as one with weights and jewelry.   For the purposes of this review I want to compare the three main types.

Tweezer Clamps

 Nipple Clamps 101

Tweezer Clamps are the cheapest and usually the most popular with novices who haven’t used nipple clamps before.  They are shaped like tweezers, as their name suggests, and are long and thin with an adjustable tension ring that you slide closer to the end to tighten around the nipples.  This type may be a bit confusing to use at first as some people try to place the nipples between the pincher ends, rather than in the wider space where they are supposed to go.  Don’t do this.  It can be very painful, as I’ve learned from experience.  These types of clamps are also a bit finicky to put on and adjust if you are a bit clumsy or have larger fingers.  I actually do not recommend these for beginners even though they are cheaper because they are the most difficult to use, and if you are not carefully, you can slide the rings to tight and pinch the nipples in them, which really hurts.

Clover Clamps

 Nipple Clamps 101

Japanese Clover Clamps are not for novice use and are popular in the s/m scene for pain play.  These clamps have an elaborate mechanism of arms that look like little vice grips and tighten slowly around the nipple with weight or light tugging adding increased pressure.  They are larger and heavier than ordinary nipple clamps, and therefore tighten around the nipples just from their own weight.  The pressure they apply is from strong to extreme which is why I’d only recommend these for serious pain sluts.  I am a bit of a masochist and can’t stand these on myself for more than a minute, although I have very sensitive nipples.  Clover Clamps feature gripper pads which helps them stay fixed to the nipples.  Luckily, they unclamp very easily by just pressing the two sides of the clamps to release.

Bull Nose Clamps

nippleclamps2 300x300 Nipple Clamps 101

Bull Nose Nipple Clamps fall in the middle price range between the other two clamps.  To use another tool analogy, these are more like adjustable pliers that feature a screw that can fine-tune the pressure of the clamps, to get the perfect amount of tension between pleasure and pain.  These are my favorite type of nipple clamps because you have control over how much pressure you apply, and the dominant person in play (IMHO) should always be in control.  They are also easy to use, which is why I would recommend them for novices.

Using Nipple Clamps

I wish someone had told me the proper way to use nipple clamps before I had tried them on my first victim long ago.  Many people think they should go on the nipples themselves, but I find they are much more effective if you pinch as much of the areola between them that you can.  You would think that the more flesh you clamp, the more painful it would be, but this is actually the opposite.  The areola can stand more pressure than the nipples themselves, so you can actually make them a bit tighter and leave them on longer.  The longer you can leave them, the more time to play.  So the closer you apply clamps to the end of the nipples, the more they are going to hurt; the closer to the base and areola, the more tolerable and pleasurable they become.  I believe that the right amount of tension between pleasure and pain makes them the most effective.  That way, when you tug on them, your partner will experience more pain and when you release they will experience more pleasure.  So to me, it is a playful balancing act between the two, where you vary sensations for optimum effect.

The Warm Up

So don’t just slap those clamps on before your play with the breast/chest and nipples of your partner first in a little warm-up.  As with every type of pain play, a warm-up increases endorphins and pleasure, which allows for increased force, pressure and pain.  So you can suck, lick, bite and pinch the nipples, as well as squeeze, pinch and slap the breasts to warm them up.

Applying Nipple Clamps

After the warm-up, I like to grasp the nipples between my thumb and the knuckle of my pointer finger and tug.  I try to grab as much flesh as I can, then place it between the clamps and slowly adjust until I get the right reaction from my partner that tells me they are experiencing pleasure, yet discomfort.  Repeat with the other nipple, and now you are ready to play.

Playing with Nipple Clamps

Most nipple clamps come with a chain that affixes the two clamps together.  You can tug on the chain to increase pressure and lead your partner around by their nipples.  You can also get you partner to hold the chain between their teeth to expose the underside of the breasts for light percussion play.  Depending on how tight you have the clamps, depends on how long you can leave them on, just like any other types of bondage or restriction.  It is important to watch the nipples for changes in color (you normally don’t want them to turn purple), and also feel them for temperature.  Nipple clamps constrict the blow flow to the nipples, so it is important no to leave them on too long if they are tight.

The best part about nipple clamps is removing them, for as the blood rushes back to the nipples, the nerves come back to life and this is when your partner will experience the most pain.  This pain is only temporary and will subside as the nipples become very sensitive, which make them much more fun to pain with.  The rest I will leave to your imagination!

It’s commonly held among kinky folk that bottoms of all genders outnumber tops by some non-trivial percentage. Among talented tops I have known there is a propensity, however veiled sometimes, to need to switch occasionally. I have no opinion on the continuing debate over “true” topping and “true” bottoming, but it’s fair to observe that there’s at least some fuzziness in the margins regarding labels, and that they may in fact have little bearing on the actual structure of the power within an exchange.

Exchange. Now there’s an interesting word. I expect this post will receive some carefully considered comments for my suggestion of the following, but within an honest scene dynamic power is not so much exchanged as it flows along a gradient. The term “power exchange” is to me at best inaccurate and slightly disingenuous, like a psychic condom to set people’s minds at ease about what’s really transpiring between them, and at worst irresponsible in potentially destructive ways. Real harm to the popular perception of BDSM is done when bromides such as “power exchange” are proffered to vanilla folk, which in the short term may defuse their untutored discomfort somewhat, but it only advances their ignorance and in the end, like “plausible deniability,” can only be viewed as spin, a result I personally would just as soon avoid.

Masters Slave:

. . . I know when he watches me, know when he stops whatever it was he was doing and slides his gaze across my flesh.I feel it. I sense his attention and it sends shivers coursing through my body. My heart speeds up, my skin flushes and I feel the dampness forming between my legs

Today I stand naked, my wrists bound above my head secured to a bolt in the ceiling. The rope pulls me up so high I must stand on tip to, my body stretched to its limit. A blindfold covers my eyes; my mouth is stuffed with a ball gag. My arms ache and the muscles in my calves twitch, saliva pools in the corners of my lips. My body is my only measure of the time that has gone by and even still I couldn’t tell you if I have been here for 5 minutes or 30. The air has a slight chill to it, my nipples stand at attention, and my skin is covered in goose bumps. I hear noises around me, sometimes close, sometimes further away. I try not to pay attention to them; I get anxious trying to figure out what Master is doing. I breathe deeply and try to relax into the position, surrender to it.

Peter Acworth’s fetish porn empire takes over the San Francisco Armory to create a new kind of dot-com

BY MOLLY FREEDENBERG

When it comes to BDSM porn peddlers Kink.com, apparently size does matter. At least, that’s how it seems now that the steamy studio has purchased the 200,000-square-foot San Francisco Armory. Suddenly, everyone wants to know: What’s the carnal concern going to do with all that space?

The answers are more diverse and ambitious than one might expect — ranging from creating a racy reality show to starting a perfectly PG-13 public community center. And thanks to the lascivious and lucrative imagination of Kink.com founder Peter Acworth, it might all be possible.

CONCEPTION AND CONTROVERSY

Though Kink.com has been producing independent niche fetish sites like Hogtied.com, WiredPussy.com, and FuckingMachines.com for the Folsom Street Fair crowd for more than 10 years — first from Acworth’s rented Marina District apartment and then from the Porn Palace on Fifth and Mission streets — it wasn’t until Acworth purchased the historical landmark in the Mission District, and was met with opposition, that the provocative porn empire really made it onto the public’s radar screen.

The armory, which was a training ground for the National Guard prior to its decommissioning 30 years ago, has been the center of controversy before. But that was mostly in-fighting between potential developers. Stringent zoning requirements and necessary but cost-prohibitive renovations discouraged buyers, leaving the Moorish behemoth on 14th and Mission streets vacant and outside public scrutiny.

But everything changed when Acworth got involved. His intended commercial use, for shooting scenes for all of Kink’s Web sites, complied with planning codes. And he didn’t need to do expensive renovations before he could start using, and profiting from, the building: what could be more perfect for bondage shoots or movies about women fucking machines than dungeons in disrepair? The only thing more ideal than the structure itself, according to Acworth, was its location in the heart of America’s most fetish-friendly city. “You couldn’t have dreamt up a more perfect place than a castle in the middle of San Francisco,” says Acworth, who purchased the armory for $14.5 million in 2007 and started operations in January of this year. “It’s like divine intervention.”

. . .Fear and terror are two completely different things. I learned that that day. Fear is hot, fear, to me, is getting fucked while there’s a rope tied around my throat, or being told that if I don’t do what I’m told, when I’m told, that my top is going to rip out a toenail with a pair of pliers. Fear is hot, and a little intimidating, and uncertain. But terror, for me, is believing in every fiber of my being that I am going to die, in that really horrible this-is-not-a-drill kind of way.

The people that are debating whether or not waterboarding is torture or not have clearly never been waterboarded. It’s torture. Pure and simple. I was convinced that I was going to die. I’m told that it’s done to create the illusion of drowning, I disagree. There is no illusion; I was drowning and nothing can convince me otherwise. I recognize that what I did was very tame compared to whats going on in some parts of the world. But what I did was enough to get me thinking. Because right now, I am of the opinion that the illusion lies only within in the theory of waterboarding, and only in the theory. In reality, there is no illusion. You are drowning.

An unusual sex survey has found that Australians who enjoy bondage and discipline are not damaged or dangerous, and might even be happier than those who practise “normal” sex.

The research showed two per cent of adult Australians regularly partake in sadomasochism and dominance and submission-type sexual role play.

And contrary to commonly-held stereotypes, they are not doing so in reaction to sexual abuse or because they are “sexually deficient” in some way, according the study of 20,000 Australians by public health researchers at the University of NSW.
