But, to be honest, doing kegel exercises is often a drag.  Either I forget to do them, or get bored with them.  That’s where Luna Beads come in, thank you to the wonderful gals at Babeland.  I have tried various other kegel exercisers before including Fun Factory’s Smart Balls [my review].  And, although I liked Smart Balls and Fun Factory toys, for me they can’t compare to Luna Beads.  Lelo, a designer of pleasure objects and the creators of Luna Beads, just seems to do everything better.  They have an intuitive knowledge of a woman’s anatomy and make “pleasure items” that just feel and work to perfection.

Luna Beads are sleek and sexy.  They are made from PC-ABS plastic that is ultra-sleek and feels like silk against the skin.  The kit (housed in an elegant and practical storage box) comes with four weighted beads (two 28 gram beads and two 37 gram beads), a silicone composition girdle (to hold the beads in place when using two in tandem), an instruction booklet to show you how to use them, a satin storage bag and a one year warranty.

Now, you are probably wondering, “why all the beads”?  This is because Lelo has designed a neat little system to use the beads based on experience level and desired workout.  You can use just one bead starting at the lowest weight of 28 grams if you have never done kegels with beads before, for a “low impact” workout.  Add the second 28 gram bead to the first using the composition girdle and you have a 56 gram workout and two beads to squeeze around.  You can mix and match the beads for more challenging workouts and varying results, working your way up to the two 37 gram beads workout.  It is just an ingenious system!

What I love about Luna Beads is how they feel.  They slide in very easily with a bit of lube and are nice and small.  I found Smart Balls were a bit big for me and am much happier with the size of the Luna Beads.  They are quite perfect.  That doesn’t mean you won’t get a good work out from them, however, the workout will just be that much more comfortable.  I could actually wear these all day without worrying about them, they are so comfortable.  Plus, they are actually enjoyable to workout with.  They make kegels exercises much more exciting and pleasurable.  As a matter of fact, I used them while masturbating with a clitoral vibe (my favorite the Lily-also by Lelo) [my review].  Annie Sprinkle always promotes clenching your PC muscles while masturbating to experience bigger, better, longer, multiple orgasms and body-gasms.  Masturbating with the Luna Beads makes this much easier to do because you can concentrate on that area while feeling the balls inside you.  Well, I want to say that Annie is right (as usual) and with the help of Luna Beads I was able to have one of Annie’s mega-gasms.  Mine didn’t last five minutes like hers, but at least a minute I’m sure.  Seriously, I thank Luna Beads for helping me make this discovery.

I now try to wear Luna Beads on a daily basis, for an hour or so in the morning while drinking my tea and catching up with emails.  I have noticed my muscles seem much firmer already after only two weeks.  Before, doing kegels always seemed like a chore, but now they are such a pleasure.

Lucky me!  I purchased a 2009 Sexblogger Calendar to support Audacia Ray’s Sex Work Awareness Project, an organization that trains sex workers in media skills and educates the public about issues that affect people who work in the sex industry.  I was happy to get the calendar alone and support sex workers!  As a bonus, however, I received a free 1 month subscription to the Crashpadseries.com.  I am already a huge fan of Pink and White Productions and Shine Louise Houston’s films.  So it was wonderful to get a behind-the-scenes look on the website with all the amazing content they have on their site.  This is the place to hang-out (or crash) if you want to see all the sexy footage of what Shine is working on with the hot stars in her films, for they post them all here first before they ever go to DVD.  And, there is lots of footage that is specifically just for the site, so stuff you’ll never see in the films themselves is here as well.

I got to watch Cyd & Red:  It was cool seeing them talk about their sexual likes and dislikes before the actual shoot as a form of negotiation.  You can also hear Shine’s directorial commentary to the performers, so it really lets you in behind-the-scenes, like you are there as one of the crew members.  Sweet!  You also have the option of downloading the clips to watch in Windows Media Player or QuickTime formats.  I prefer Media Player, so that was great for me.

They have six episodes to date up on the website and each episode has numerous scenes.  So there is a lot of to watch. It would take you weeks and weeks to go through all the content and watch all the videos, and at the rate they update, this would be a never-ending battle.  The site is stock full of hot photos of all episodes and the stars including Carson, Dallas, Donna, Dylan Ryan, Javier, Jake, Jiz Lee, Michele Aston, Lorelei Lee, Rozen Debowe, Shawn, Trouble, Trucker Cash, Vai, Wilder and many more.  You’ll see plenty of heartthrob bois, girls and gender-bending crushes on the site, many of which have yet to be seen on DVD.  The site also has a free forum where you can talk about various topics and even correspond with the stars and director themselves.

Jan. 6 (Bloomberg) — A sex hormone stimulated by excess body fat may trigger deadly ovarian cancer, a new study found.

Researchers at the National Cancer Institute found that, among women who had never taken hormones after menopause, obesity was associated with an almost 80 percent higher risk of ovarian cancer, the deadliest type of gynecological malignancy. Production of the hormone estrogen linked to excess body mass may stimulate the growth of ovarian cells and play a role in the development of cancer after menopause, the study said.

The findings, published in the Feb. 15 issue of the American Cancer Society’s journal Cancer, adds to evidence about the health risks of obesity, a condition the World Health Organization says affects more than 400 million adults. The Geneva-based agency says overweight and obese people have a greater risk of colon, breast and endometrial cancer.

From there it travelled to the 2007 Out on Film Atlanta LGBT Film Festival where it again played to a full house. Most recently Ashley and Kisha played as a double feature with Damon and Hunter: Doing it Together at the 2008 Tel Aviv International LGBT Film Festival, but this New York date marks the first time director Tony Comstock will be present for a screening.

Tony Comstock has been a filmmaker for more than 15 years; produced films on three continents; screened and won awards on four. Topics addressed in his films have included: faith, human rights, disaster relief, and social justice. Most recently he has devoted his energy an to ongoing documentary series subtitled “Real people, Real life, Real sex.” The series addresses issues of sexuality, sexual imagery, censorship, alternative distribution and promotion, and love.

His latest film Bill and Desiree: Love is Timeless (2008) celebrates erotic love in the second half of life, and will have its US Premiere at the Martha Stewart Center for Living at the Mt. Sinai Medical Center in a special screening for faculty and clinicians.

I get requests from product manufacturers frequently to do reviews.  However, I don’t review just anything.  A product has to be of good quality, safe material, and if it is something a bit different, then that always catches my eye.  So when Intimate Teas asked me if I’d like to review one of their aphrodisiac teas, Screaming O, I said “Sure, why not?”  I did check out their website first to make sure they were using natural ingredients and not chemical stimulants.  I was surprised to learn that their teas contain many herbs that have been reported to have aphrodisiac properties including peppermint, suma, and ginseng.

Peppermint is a stimulant and quickens functional activity of the tissues and cells giving more energy and is an aphrodisiac in large doses for both men and women.  It also improves concentration, relaxes muscles, and freshens breathe.-Nutritional Supplement Bible

Suma (or Brazilian Ginseng) reduces stress, fights fatigue, increases estrogen production, and enhances libido as a sexual stimulant.-Rain-Tree.com

Ginseng is used as a sexual tonic: if you are lethargic it can give you sexual energy and if you are tense it can help you relax.  It contains compounds that may have effects on your body resembling those of certain sex and adrenal hormones.  It does not act as an immediate sexual stimulant, but when taken long-term it can enhance your sexual vitality.–Acufinder.com

So do so-called aphrodisiacs work?  Many people use natural energy drinks with ginseng and ginkgo biloba to revive themselves through-out the workday.  Doctors will tell you there is no such thing as an aphrodisiac.  However, many others including herbalists claim that certain herbs and foods do have sexually stimulating properties.  Cherries, and other dark pigmented fruit, have been found to help with erectile dysfunction in men.  Cherries contain anthocyanin pigments which help improve circulation, and “reduce angiotensin and endothelin, both of which raise blood pressure and lower the nitric oxide needed for erections” much like Viagra does, but in a gentler way.-from Anthocyanins Against Erectile Dysfunction

I believe a natural substance can have libido enhancing properties, but what about Screaming O tea?

Screaming O tea has a mint aroma and flavor.  It is slightly bitter like most teas, but you can sweeten it with honey if you don’t like bitter teas.  The tea came in a very nice red tin with leopard-print stripes, so it’s a keeper.  Inside is a little red bag with 12 teabags.  Once you open the bag of tea the mint scent is very powerful, with a slightly spicy quality.  Just smelling it is rejuvenating.  The recommended dose is three cups of tea throughout the day before making love.  I actually only had to drink 1 1/2 cups before I started feeling the effects.

I drank the tea in the afternoon when my natural energy level was low.  I noticed I started feeling a bit of tingling excitement in my stomach, became more alert, and felt much more energetic.  My partner was away on a business trip so I had to suffice with solo sex, which was fine since I had a new toy to review as well, the Rock Chick from Vibrator.com (review next week).
