Madeline,

This is such an important topic. I too had a similar quandary not long ago when I was considering doing a post about the HPV vaccine, and I think for the very same reasons you mentioned; I didn’t want to be a shill for pharmaceutical giant Merck. I’m sure most of us have seen the company’s “Tell Someone” television ad campaign, which is a bit deceptive because it never mentions that a drug company is behind the message, and I hate to be the cynic in the room but it just really left me feeling mistrustful of the intentions. On the other hand, the information about HPV and the vaccine is so important; it’s almost irresponsible not to talk about it. Thanks for doing it in such a cool way.

- nina

I’m sure most of us have seen the company’s “Tell Someone” television ad campaign, which is a bit deceptive because it never mentions that a drug company is behind the message, and I hate to be the cynic in the room but it just really left me feeling mistrustful of the intentions. On the other hand, the information about HPV and the vaccine is so important; it’s almost irresponsible not to talk about it. Thanks for doing it in such a cool way.
