Queen Latifah handed out $150,000 to a women’s charity after being moved by its work rescuing girls from prostitution in south-east Asia. According to the New York Daily News, Barbara Walters immediately matched the pledge.
The actress/rapper heard about the work of Cambodian activist Somaly Mam and her organization Acting For Women In Distressing Situations at Glamour magazine’s “Women Of The Year” Awards on Monday and reached for her check book.
Mam has helped rescue 3,000 girls from brothels in south-east Asia.
